VELO Cool Storm - Expert Review

The Velo series of nicotine pouches is one of the most popular, and highly regarded nicotine pouch series on the market today. Originally known as Lyft, it evolved and transformed into Velo over the past few years. Granted, there are some Lyft products popping up here and there, but for the majority of this brand, BAT has stuck with using Velo as their “main name” for nicotine pouches. This brand also has a LOT of mint flavours and strengths. Just over the past month they have released 4 new mint pouches. Today, we’re going to be checking out Velo Cool Storm X-Strong. Without further ado, let’s check out this pouch!

VELO Cool Storm Bottom canProduct Specifics:

Can Weight: 14 grams

Portion Format: Slim Nicotine Pouches

Portion Count: 20 pouches

Portion Weight: 0.7 grams each

Nicotine (Total mg/g): 15.57mg/g

Nicotine %: 1.557%

Nicotine (mg/Portion): 10.9mg/pouch

When you open the can, the aroma that comes through is a sharp, fresh smell of mint. I notice menthol right off the bat, with a little peppermint in the mix. The menthol isn’t too overly heavy, nor is it too medicinal. There’s a decent amount of sweetness to it, but it’s not overdone. It’s a pretty refreshing aroma! When I put a pouch under the lip, I notice a slight burn at first, which gives way to a gentle cooling sensation. The pouches are the slim size, with a soft portion material and a decent moisture amount. Under the lip they have a nice fit, and feel comfortable against the gum. As far as the taste goes, it’s pretty minty! I’m usually not the biggest fan of menthol flavours, but with this one it’s not too mentholated. The mint/menthol balance is pretty even. I pick up the menthol first, but the peppermint comes through pretty quickly. It’s slightly sweet, icy, and refreshing. In the nicotine strength, this one does have a little extra kick to it. Though it is called an “X-Strong”, to me it feels to be around the strong level, or at most between strong and extra strong. If you like a little extra kick with your pouches, you’ll be satisfied with this one. The flavour lasts the usual 40-45 minutes that most Velo/Lyft products last, so you get a decent flavour longevity with this one.

Wrap-Up & Recommendation

The Lyft/Velo series is the undisputed top of the line for nicotine pouches. There are so many brands out there nowadays, but this one is one of the earliest, and still has an incredibly high product quality to it. Not only that, but the series has a pretty wide mix of flavours and strengths available so no matter what you’re looking for, you can definitely find something in the Lyft or Velo series.

Snubie’s Opinion

There are so many mint nicotine pouches out there. It seems like that is most of what people are making nowadays. Personally, I’m not a big mint pouch user. I’ll use them after brushing my teeth, but it’s not a flavour category I jump for. Of the Lyft/Velo family, I prefer their regular strength Velo Mint, because it has a smooth, spearmint taste and less strength. But if you like icy mint flavours and want something with a strong kick to it, this is one you’ll want to check out.
